The History of Spotlight Musical Productions
1962
The IBM Glee Club begins its existence. It is founded to provide an opportunity for IBM employees, spouses and their guests to socialize through singing.
1968-1990
The IBM Glee Club changes its name to IBM Musical Theatre and moves from its Don Mills location to Markham. It now performs an annual Variety Show, a full scale Broadway Musical and a Spring Concert Tour, including concerts at over 50 different seniors homes and hospitals.
1991
IBM Musical Theatre is the first amateur community theatre group in the Toronto area to present Into the Woods.
1992
IBM Musical Theatre celebrates its 25th production with a presentation of Working, making it the first amateur community theatre group in the Toronto area to bring it to the stage.
1994
IBM Musical Theatre runs a group competition to select a new name. Spotlight Musical Productions is born.
1994-present
Spotlight Musical Productions continues to perform musicals every year, welcoming talent from all across the GTA to join our family of artists.
